How to arrange the order of network cables

:2025-04-08

The order of network cables mainly follows the two mainstream standards of TIA/EIA-568A and TIA/EIA-568B, of which the TIA/EIA-568B standard is more commonly used. The following is a detailed explanation of the order of network cables:

  TIA/EIA-568B standard line sequence

In the TIA/EIA-568B standard, the color order of the 8 core wires of the network cable is: white orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green, white brown, brown. In fact, there are only four groups of core wires really used for communication, namely 1-2-3 -6. These four wires (white orange, orange, white green, green) are responsible for sending and receiving data. The remaining four wires (blue, white blue, white brown, brown) are usually used as spare or ground wires.

  TIA/EIA-568A standard line sequence

The line sequence of the TIA/EIA-568A standard is: green and white, green, orange and white, blue, blue and white, orange, brown and white, brown. Compared with the TIA/EIA-568B standard, the line sequence is different, but only 1-2-3 -6 lines are used for communication.

III. Network cable connection type and line sequence selection

  Direct-Through Cable:

It is used to connect different types of devices, such as computers and switches, routers, etc.

In direct wiring, the crystal heads at both ends adhere to the same line sequence standard, usually the TIA/EIA-568B standard.

  Crossover Cable:

It is used to connect devices of the same type, such as a direct connection between two computers.

In the crossover line, the crystal head at one end follows the TIA/EIA-568B standard, and the other end follows the TIA/EIA-568A standard.

  IV. Precautions

Line sequence accuracy: When making a network cable, it is necessary to ensure the accuracy of the line sequence, otherwise the network connection may be unstable or unable to connect.

Crystal head quality: Choose a high-quality crystal head to ensure that its connection with the core wire is firm and reliable.

Network cable length: The length of the network cable should be selected according to actual needs. Excessive network cable length may cause signal attenuation and tranSMission speed degradation.

Electromagnetic interference: In environments with high electromagnetic interference, shielded twisted pair (STP) is recommended to reduce interference.

In summary, the order of the network cable mainly follows the two standards of TIA/EIA-568A and TIA/EIA-568B. When making the network cable, the appropriate line sequence and crystal head quality should be selected according to the type and requirements of the connecting device. At the same time, attention should also be paid to the influence of factors such as the length of the network cable and electromagnetic interference on the network connection.
